THE AMAZING ANIMAL-HUMAN BOND

For a decade before materialization of Robin’s Nest Ranch in 2021, Kimber envisioned a sanctuary for neglected and abused animals. With a growing collection of rescued animals, the vision extends beyond the boundaries of the ranch as we actively educate and advocate for animal protection measures and the profound significance of the animal-human bond

We focus on how to best provide education and advocacy and to create a retreat setting for groups that can benefit from animal assisted therapy.

Overwhelmingly, science supports the benefit of animal assisted therapy, which can be life-changing for many populations. Here are a few facts:

  • A Purdue University study found animal-assisted therapy helps provide diversion from anxiety-inducing medical experiences, often critical for healing.

  • The Human Animal Bone Research Institute found that animal-human interactions reduce social isolation and loneliness, a growing public health epidemic.

  • The National Alliance on Mental Illness supports the benefits of Emotional Support Animals, now considered a reasonable accommodation under the Fair Housing Act.

  • The Alliance of Therapy Dogs supports structured therapy visits to hospitals, psychiatric units, nursing homes, and other medical facilities.

  • The National Institute of Health finds that animal assisted intervention has a significant effect on:

    • dementia

    • autism

    • schizophrenia

    • post-traumatic stress disorder

    • substance abuse

    • suicide prevention
